VEMORIQ PHOTO JOURNAL · JECHEON
Blue water, wooded ridges and a wide open sky: this Cheongpung Lake photo collection begins with the view itself. VEMORIQ’s publisher took the original photographs at the observation deck reached by the Cheongpung Lake cable car in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do.

The winding shoreline and overlapping ridges are the focus of this people-free view. It is the documentary landscape image in this collection; the two portraits below are clearly labelled editorial composites.

The cable car runs between the Multae-ri departure station in Cheongpung-myeon and the Bibongsan observation area. Korea Tourism Organization describes a 2.3 km line and a ride of about ten minutes. This is not the same boarding point as the Cheongpungho Scenic Monorail, even though both reach Bibongsan. Search 청풍호반케이블카 rather than simply “Cheongpung viewpoint”; use 충북 제천시 청풍면 문화재길 166 for the cable-car base, and verify the live route before leaving Jecheon.
Allow time for the return ride, the viewing deck and weather changes rather than budgeting only for the ascent. The standard cabin is the straightforward landscape choice; the crystal-floor cabin adds a downward view and may not suit visitors uncomfortable with heights. Check the operator’s current cabin options, ticket rules, opening time, last boarding and weather alerts on the day. Strong wind or lightning can interrupt service.
Read the landscape before taking pictures
From Bibongsan, the lake’s inlets overlap with ridgelines. A wide frame shows the shape of Cheongpungho; a tighter frame isolates the folds of water and forest. On a hazy day, treat distant ridges as layers instead of promising a perfectly crisp panorama. For portraits, keep the horizon clear of the subject’s head and leave enough space around the person to show where the photograph was made. Respect railings and other visitors; a dramatic low angle is not worth obstructing the deck.
Choose the deck or the extra walk
If you want the view with the least walking, stay around the observation building. The operator lists a rooftop observatory at the lower station and viewing areas at Bibongsan. Its optional herb-forest path toward the pavilion is described as roughly 35 minutes return on foot, with stairs and slopes and no toilet on that path. It is a separate decision, not a required part of the cable-car trip. Use the building facilities first and skip the trail if the surface, weather or your mobility makes it uncomfortable.
Check these sources before travelling
Korea Tourism Organization: Cheongpung Cable Car supports the route, address and ride description. The cable-car operator’s facilities guide identifies the station and deck layout, and its course guide describes the optional walk and its limitations. Published hours and fares can change; confirm them directly with the operator rather than treating an old screenshot as a current ticket quote.
Keep this view on your Korea travel list
Save the Korean search name 청풍호반케이블카 when researching the visit. Confirm current operating conditions, weather, ticket availability and the final return ride before travelling. The photographs do not confirm today’s visibility or service schedule.
On a viewing deck, stay inside the railings, keep walkways clear and ask before including identifiable visitors in your photographs.
