Jeju Island Travel Guide · 제주

Jeju rewards zone-based planning. Choose an east, west or south-coast day, protect extra time for weather and avoid building an itinerary that crosses the island repeatedly.

Choose the right zone

The east combines Seongsan and volcanic coast scenery; the west connects Hyeopjae, tea fields and sunset stops; Seogwipo anchors waterfalls and the southern coast. Hallasan needs its own weather-aware plan.

Car or public transport

A rental car is flexible, but the airport handover usually uses an off-site shuttle and parking is limited at popular stops. Bus travel is possible when each day stays within one zone.

Weather changes the route

Wind, rain, heat and trail controls matter more than the calendar alone. Check Hallasan reservations, ferry status and attraction notices again on the travel day.

Plan a visit that fits your day

VEMORIQ planning notes · Expanded October 3, 2026. Suggested routes are editorial choices; confirm live admission, service and transport details with the relevant operator.

Select a zone and a realistic anchor

Choose one coast or an inland objective for each day. An Aewol café fits a northwest route; Hamdeok belongs to a northeast plan; Sanbangsan and Sagye belong to a southwest plan. Use one major stop plus a nearby meal and optional shorter stop as your starting structure. Add more only after comparing actual travel and parking time.

Driving and bus plans need different shapes

A driving itinerary should include rental collection, vehicle checks, parking and the return procedure. A bus itinerary should start with the service and transfer pattern, then select attractions reachable from it. Do not copy a car-based route and assume the bus version will take only slightly longer. Save the last useful return connection before heading to a remote coast.

Keep mountain, ferry and café plans distinct

Hallasan hiking requires its own route, weather and access preparation; it is not an extra stop between cafés. An island ferry trip similarly depends on sailing conditions and return availability. Keep an ordinary land-based alternative for a day when a weather-dependent activity cannot operate. Confirm the specific trail or sailing, not simply whether Jeju is open to visitors.

Use weather to change the order

On a day with limited clear intervals, prioritize the view-dependent outdoor stop and move shopping or a seated break to the poorer interval. Avoid chasing sunset across the island after an already full day. If the main attraction closes, a nearby substitute is usually more practical than trying to recover the entire itinerary elsewhere.

Official reference: check current visitor information. Hours, prices, stock, reservations and access can change.
