Myeongdong Fashion & Beauty Shopping Guide · 명동 패션·뷰티 쇼핑

Myeongdong combines major fashion chains, beauty stores, department stores and tourist services in a compact central-Seoul shopping district.

Compare branches and floors

The same brand may have several nearby branches with different stock and services. Save the exact branch name and use department-store floors for a more predictable category comparison.

Check tax refund and packaging

Carry the required passport information, ask whether the store supports immediate or airport tax refund, and inspect sealed products before leaving. Rules and minimum purchase amounts can change.

Connect the route

Myeongdong pairs naturally with Namdaemun, Namsan or a central palace day. Avoid scheduling it between distant east- and west-Seoul stops just because the subway map looks compact.

Plan a visit that fits your day

VEMORIQ planning notes · Expanded October 3, 2026. Suggested routes are editorial choices; confirm live admission, service and transport details with the relevant operator.

Make a comparison route

Start with a short list of items and two or three exact branches, then compare before buying the heaviest items. Department stores are useful for checking several categories in one building; street stores let you compare individual labels. Keep a note of the branch, product code, size and final price so that returning to a store does not become another search.

Keep shopping and sightseeing balanced

Use Myeongdong as a central shopping block after another nearby activity, rather than inserting it between distant appointments. If continuing toward Namsan, consider whether carrying bags up the approach fits your plan. Put bulk purchases near the end of the day or arrange a hotel drop-off first.

Check the item and the paperwork

Inspect the actual size and shade in the sealed product, not only the tester or display. Ask the shop about exchanges and the specific tax-refund process before payment, keeping all receipts together. A district’s popularity with visitors does not mean every stall provides the same service or accepts the same payment method.

Official reference: check current visitor information. Hours, prices, stock, reservations and access can change.
